2011 National Offroad Titles - 20-25 April 2011 Perth, Western Australia
Report and photos by Glenn Wilson, Leigh Cheeseman and John Watkins
Introduction
The 2011 AARCMCC National Titles find their way to Perth Western Australia to the WCMRC facility which is approximately 10km north-east of the CBD.
With Australia's best drivers on show including Josh Pain, Tod Trower, Leigh Cheeseman, Matt Primmer, Jarred King, and Logan Symes, the competition is intense and the host club has done a brilliant job in delivering a technical yet high grip surface to race on.
Control tyres for the event are J-Concepts Double Dees with each driver limited to 6 sets for the four qualifiers and three finals.
The Track
The layout is very technical with a number of elevation changes, hairpins, and minor jumps. The front straight is high speed and immediately followed by a back straight section which is difficult to see from the drivers stand. The back straight has a major kink which is catching a number of drivers off guard.

Wednesday 20 April, 2011 - Open Practice
A number of the interstate contingent arrived early to try and master the difficult layout. With the track opening at 9am, the drivers stand was rarely empty as racers tried to dial their cars in to the high grip surface. Tyre wear was signficant with the control tyres lasting 10 minutes in modified and around 15-20 minutes in stock. The early pace setters were Keri Macdonald and Jeff Primmer in stock and Chris Bozich, Matthew Primmer, and Leigh Cheeseman in the modified class. Local guns Josh Pain and Tod Trower were not in attendance today so it is hard to tell how they compare against the others.
TLR Australia was struggling with setup however I'm sure with a full day of practice still to come, the handling issues will be resolved.

Thursday 21 April, 2011 - Controlled Practice
There were a few new faces down at the track today but there was always room on the drivers stand. Temperatures rose to 28 degrees with the back section of the track affected by shadows for most of the day. As the temperatures rose, setup changes were required.
The host club did a great job in sugar coating and patching the track following yesterdays session. It is expected that this procedure will be repeated again tonight in anticipation for 2wd day tomorrow.
The pace setters today were Josh Pain, Michael McDonnell, Chris Bozich and Todd Trower. Again the TLR cars had difficulty in locking in the right setup.
